Cutler Ridge, Lakes by the Bay and storm readiness

If you're searching for Cutler, Cutler Ridge or Lakes by the Bay, you're in the right place. Cutler Ridge is the town's former western community name, and Lakes by the Bay became part of the town when it incorporated in 2005. Both are covered by this page.

Hurricane Andrew badly damaged this part of Miami-Dade in 1992, and storm readiness remains part of life here. For appliances, that means a few habits. Keep a thermometer in the refrigerator and freezer and know where the water shut-off valves are. Write down your appliance model numbers before the season starts. After an outage, plug appliances back in one at a time and note any error codes.

Many homes are now old enough that original dryer ducts, supply lines and outlets deserve a check during a repair visit.

Tips for homes in Cutler Bay

Garage appliances

Washers, dryers and second refrigerators in garages deal with Miami heat and humidity. Mention where the appliance is when you call.

Dryer vent runs

In single-family homes the dryer vent often runs through a wall or attic to the outside. Long or crushed ducts slow drying and collect lint.
